After graduating from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1973, Dr. Bruce Small completed a general practice residency in Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown Pennsylvania. Following another year of general practice experience he began the dental practice here in Lawrenceville in 1975 and continues fulltime now with his daughter Kaitlin.
Dr. Small has many interests in dentistry particularly in teaching and continuing dental education. He is a clinical instructor at UMDNJ where together with others mentors a selective/elective in cast gold for senior dental students. He originated and is president of The Institute of New Techniques in Dentistry, a fully accredited learning institution for graduate dentists and dental assistants.
He was a regular columnist for fifteen years for General Dentistry the journal of the Academy of General Dentistry and had published over 130 articles in dental publications. He is a sought after lecturer across the United States and beyond and is a continuing student himself belonging to two dental study clubs and mentors two additional clubs in New York and Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kaitlin Small received her D.M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in May of 2000. After graduation, she furthered her education in a general practice residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Dr. Small served on the Executive Committee of the Mercer Dental Society for 8 years and is currently Past-President. While on the Executive Committee she was program chairman and as well as chairman of National Children’s Dental Health Month. This program organized free mouth guards for all children in Mercer County. She is an active member of the R.V. Tucker Cast Gold Study Club, an associate professor at UMDNJ in the Restorative Department and an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association.
Dr. Small is also a member of donated dental services which provides free dentistry for the essential and comprehensive dental care needs of our nation’s most vulnerable people; disabled, elderly or medically-compromised individuals who cannot afford necessary treatment nor get public aid. DDS patients have slipped through the cracks of Medicaid and Medicare programs with nowhere else to turn.
Kaitlin is married and is the proud mother of two children.
Kathy has been in the dental field since 1972. She worked with Dr. Small when he was first out of dental school in the mid 70s'. She then went on to pursue the field of orthodontics. She has come full circle and has been back with Dr. Small since 1996. She is certified as a dental assistant on a national and state level. She is also certified in orthodontics. Her continuing education is ongoing. She has attended the Pankey Institute in advanced studies in business administration
Outside the office, she enjoys time at the beach and numerous hobbies from making jewelry to scrap booking
Chris Fidanza joined the field of orthodontics in 1972 where she worked as a registered dental assitant for more than 25 years. She changed direction and worked for 6 years at the front desk ingeneral dentistry before joining Dr Small in 2014. Five grandchildren keep Chris busy when not working as well as volunteering.
Sharon has been Dr. Bruce Small’s primary assistant for over 23 years. Patients find that as a long time team, Dr Small and Sharon operate at a high level of comfort and skill during any dental procedure. Sharon has attended many continuing education courses including studying at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne Florida. She is certified through the Dental Assistant’s National Board and a Registered Dental Assistant in NJ. She has taught continuing education courses for dental assistants under the direction of Dr. Small for several years. Sharon has enjoyed all her years as a dental professional and values the relationships developed with the patients.
Azra earned her dental assisting degree from Mercer County Technical School in 2001. She is a certified and registered dental assistant. She joined our team in 2001. She also has attended the Pankey Institute.
Outside the office, Azra is a busy Mom of three young active boys and loves spending time with her family.
Marlene attended college in Montreal Canada and graduated from John Abbott College in 1986. She joined our practice after 13 year career in periodontics. When not working she enjoys bicycling, hiking, kayaking, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Agnieszka is a graduate of Kean University and has worked in various dental settings for 13+ years. She was born in Poland and has lived in New Jersey for most of her life. Outside of work she values spending time in nature, photography, getting lost in a good story, and trying all the tea.
Donna Harrop has been practicing dental hygienefor 21 years in both geheral dentistry and periodontal practices. When she is not working she loves spending time with her family. She is married with three children and two dogs. She loves reading, exercising, and baking.
