Porcelain veneers are used on front teeth to cover discolored surfaces and fill small spaces. These are one of the most common “esthetic” restorations used when a person wants to change their smile. Similar to an artificial fingernail, they go on the front and chewing edge of a tooth to change the color and shape and sometimes to improve function. As with other types of dental restorations porcelain veneers have their limits and are only used in certain situations where they are indicated.
